Short Story Structure Start (An Intro)

What makes a good short story?  How are short story elements different from feature-length works?  Where does act one, act two, act three, character arc… come into play when you only have your audience for a few pages?  Are short stories centered around conveying a single experience that has a few twists and surprises?

These are all questions I had when I set out to study short story structure.  Although I’m still in the process of finding answers to all of the above, in March, I’ll be blogging about a few findings relating to short story structure. I’ll end the month with an introduction for my theme for the A to Z Challenge.

Below is a schedule for March posts.

  • March 11th – Crafting Short Story Openings
  • March 18th – Introducing Environments
  • March 25th – A to Z Challenge Theme Introduced

What are some questions you have about writing short stories?
